Wandering the West Coast
i've just arrived back on Vancouver Island after spending the last 9 months in Mexico. It's so lovely to be back on this green island and the weather could not be more perfect: clear blue skies and a warm sun that has lifted the temperature to 24 degrees. The dogwoods are flowering, and the flowering plums add their mass of pink blossoms. Purple aubretia, white and pink magnolia, apple blossoms, all set against a background of green fir and hemlock and cedar.
Swallows and Juncos are looking for places to build nests. The hummingbird feeders are in constant demand. Robins search the lawn for insects. Squirrels race through the trees. It is all so different from Mexico, yet so familiar. Magic.
